Enlisted man's light cavalry saber. Single-edged blade with two fullers. Iron alloy blade, copper alloy half basket guard, three branched. Plain pommel cap and peened tang. Leather washer between blade and guard. Leather wound grip with copper alloy wire. Marked: "U.S. J.M. (Justin Murphy, U.S. Inspector of Arms, 1818-1864?) on obverse of ricasso and "Emerson and Silver, Trenton, N.J." on reverse.
Pommel marked "J.M." on top.
