Charles Thone was born in Hartington, Nebraska, January 4, 1924. He served as Deputy Secretary of State, 1950-1951; Assistant Attorney General, 1951-1952; Assistant United States District Attorney, Lincoln, 1952-1954; administrative assistant to United States Senator Roman L. Hruska, 1954-1959. Nebraska representative, United States Senator Dwight P. Griswold, 1951-1952; delegate-at-large, GOP presidential elector for Nebraska, 1952, 1956, 1960, and 1968; chairman, Nebraska delegation to 1972-1980 Republican National Convention. Elected to Supreme Court Judicial Nomination Commission, 1969 for a six-year term. Elected to the United States House of Representatives, November 3, 1970. Re-elected 1972, 1974, 1976.
